A 47-second video filmed at SF State went viral Monday, showing two students arguing over dreadlocks. The video sparked an international debate that has some serious racial implications. Viewers are asking, “Who has the freedom to have dreadlocks?”

We asked students and faculty who wear locs to weigh in and share their stories. The over-arching message is one of personal empowerment, inclusivity and pride.
