The SF State poetry center is opening its new reading series “Tripwire Cross-Cultural” with a two-night long presentation on September 27 and 28.

Writers, poets and literary translators, Jen Hofer and John Pluecker, who started the language experimentation collective Antena, opened the reading series with a reading of their original works at E.M. Wolfman Book in Downtown Oakland on Wednesday night and are going to be taking an in-depth look at Antena on-campus Poetry Center Thursday night.

Their writing collective, “Antena”, which operates to activate “links between social justice work and artistic practice,” according to the collective’s websiteThe goals of this writing collective are to create community bonds through language.

Tripwire, the poetic publication that is partnering with the Poetry Center to produce this series, is a poetry magazine started by SF alumni in 1998, and collects work from artists and poets around the world.

“This is probably the most international magazine,” said Steve Dickison director of the poetry center. “Magazine that gets outside the tiny frame of whatever we might be working is here in this space, in this time.”
