I was delighted that you covered the story of the SSF Youth Led Coalition to offer demands of the city government. SSF has been on the wrong side of history for a very long time. It’s time that the youth of this city stand up. I was so happy that you covered their heroic stand for justice and defunding police. My 15 year old nephew Derrick Gaines, referred to in the account of the meeting, was executed in SSF by a rogue cop Joshua Cabillo on 6/5/12. Your article helped me once again to confront these city officials and to contradict their police narrative that this execution was “justified”.
