A four alarm fire broke out at approximately 6:50 pm on the evening of Jan. 28 at the intersection of 22nd and Mission Street. Twelve people were rescued from the blaze, which claimed the life of one man and hospitalized four. Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White said that firefighters had “Knocked on every door” of the building just before the fourth alarm sounded, and they were forced to evacuate.
