Ed Lee won San Francisco’s mayoral election today with a 61 percent majority vote.
The ranked-choice voting process went on for 11 rounds, eliminating one candidate each time until one received at least a 50 percent majority.
The leading competitors behind Lee were John Avalos, with 39 percent of the vote in the last round, and Dennis Herrera with 23 percent of the vote in the second-to-last round.
Among other winners were George Gascon for district attorney, winning with 64 percent in the third and final round of voting, with David Onek in second. Onek received 36 percent of the final vote.
Ross Mirkarimi won the race for sheriff with 53 percent in the third and final round of voting, besting Paul Miyamoto. Miyamoto received 47 percent of the final vote.
