The SF State men’s basketball team suffered a tough 78-65 loss at home Friday to the Humboldt State Lumberjacks. The Gators are 14-9 overall and 12-7 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association after last night’s game.
Leading the way for the Gators was senior guard Marquel Hoskins; who finished the game with a game high 21 points on 6-10 shooting while collecting seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Nefi Perdomo contributed with 18 points and five rebounds in 34 minutes before leaving the game with an injury. Seniors Joshua Hash, who played both the guard and forward positions, and forward Tim Pratt did not play due to injury.
Still, the player of the game had to be the Lumberjacks’ Brian Morris. The senior forward scored 37 points and grabbed 10 rebounds earning him a double-double. Morris averages 17.7 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game for the Lumberjacks, who are tenth in the nation and first in the CCAA. They are 20-2 overall and 16-2 in the CCAA.
The Gators will wrap up their season with a four-game homestand. They play their second game, a back-to-back, on Feb. 19 against Sonoma State. The Gators will host Cal State Stanislaus on Feb. 24 and Chico State on Feb. 25.
