Update (8:45 p.m.): CHP Officer Kenyon Youngstrom died from his injuries today at 6:05 p.m. at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, according to a press release from CHP spokeswoman Fran Clader.
SF State alumnus Christopher Boone Lacy has been identified as the shooter in yesterday’s California Highway Patrol shooting.
“We’ve just been confirming that he is an alum of the graduate program in computer science,” said University spokeswoman Ellen Griffin.
A graduate student of the University’s computer science graduate program, Lacy shot CHP Officer Kenyon Youngstrom, 37, in the head after being stopped for a traffic violation on I-680.
The CHP officer, who was shot yesterday morning in the head and in the spinal cord, remains in critical condition on life support. Youngstrom’s partner then fatally shot Lacy, 36, in the head.
Youngstrom still remains on life support at John Muir Hospital.
