Supervisor Scott Weiner proposed a resolution Tuesday to oppose the proposed off-leash dog ban currently being considered by the Golden Gate National Resource Area. The GGNRA encompasses parks from Marin County through San Francisco down to South Bay.
“I am introducing a resolution to put us on record in opposition to the GGNRA’s plan to dramatically restrict off-leash dog access,” Weiner said at the Boadr of Supervisors meeting. “A plan that is designed to eventually eliminate off-leash dog access and possibly eliminate dogs, period, in GGNRA.”
There will be a hearing Monday, April 6 with the Land Use Commission about the plan.
The proposal includes alternatives, including allowing dogs only on-leash in certain areas and significantly reducing off-leash access or removing off-leash access altogether.
