Associated Student, Inc. postponed the 2015 Spring Elections due to technical difficulties with the online voting ballot.
ASI announced via email that voting scheduled for last week would instead be held April 13 until April 17 at 11:59 p.m. ASI Education Representative Linda Duncan said the problems did not originate with ASI.
“We were using a third party server, and there were a lot of technical errors (on their end) and a lot of running back and forth between our staff and the company and that’s why it was delayed for the week,” said Linda Duncan.
Problems with access to the website led to the delay of the elections, according to Jasmine Tong, the administration assistant at the ASI business office.
“Everything with the format was all weird,” Tong said. “The site was working if you accessed it through the actual site, but linking it through our AS website wasn’t working so that’s why it was called off.”
Jocelyn Valdez, an assistant at the ASI business office said the technical problems were corrected and the site is now functioning.
“It should all be fine now,” Valdez said. “I voted this morning.”
Students who wish to vote online can access e-ballots at http://asi.sfsu.edu.
ASI will also provide polling stations from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. everyday this week at the Cesar Chavez Student Center and at the City Eats Dining Center for students who want to vote in person.
