The Virginia gunman accused of killing a television reporter and cameraman live on the air Wednesday morning at 6:45 a.m. was believed to be an SF State graduate from the broadcasting department, official sources said.

“Right now all I can confirm is that a student by the name of Vester Lee Flanagan graduated from SF State in 1995 with a degree in radio and television,” said Adrianne Bee, the interim associate vice president at SF State.

Flanagan, 41, also known as Bryce Williams, was a reporter for the TV station WDBJ based out of Roanoke, Virginia, several media outlets reported.

Flanagan opened fire during an interview with Vicki Gardner, a member of the local chamber of commerce, killing reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward, according to a report by the Huffington Post. Gardner is in critical condition, according to multiple reports.

Flanagan is also in critical condition after shooting himself, according to Virginia State Police.
