After a yearlong search, SF State has appointed Jason Wu to head the University Police Department, according to a statement released Friday.
“Wu demonstrated himself to be a strong, strategic leader and creative problem solver with a clear student development focus,” the statement said.
The new police chief is a 25-year veteran of the U.S. Park Police and a former police officer.
Wu will be replacing Reggie Parson who served as interim chief of police and has returned to his position as deputy chief of police, effective Sept. 19.
“Parson’s service earned him tremendous respect from colleagues across campus,” the statement said.
