Assault takes place at the Mashouf Wellness Center

The UPD is looking for the suspect of the assault that occurred Tuesday afternoon.

UPDATE – AUGUST 25 at 5:41 p.m.

According to University Police Department Lt. Emmanuel Vallero, the altercation may have been related to a violation of the Mashouf Wellness Center’s 30 minute weight lifting machine policy. 

The victim of the physical altercation has since been released from the hospital following medical treatment. A suspect has been identified, but their identity has not been released as the case is still under investigation. UPD is working with other campus members to handle the situation appropriately.

As a result, UPD has increased patrolling near the Mashouf Wellness Center and they encourage all members of the University to be alert and observant.

AUGUST 23, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. 

A physical altercation took place at the Mashouf Wellness Center at approximately 2:40 p.m. on Aug. 23.

The University Police Department sent out an email at 6:20 p.m. regarding the incident. 

According to the email, “The suspect fled the scene across Font Boulevard, towards campus prior to the arrival of SF State police officers. These police officers conducted a search of the area for the suspect but were unable to locate them.”

The UPD described the suspect to be “an adult, approximately 30 years of age, heavy build, 6-foot-5, short black hair, beard with mustache and wearing a black t-shirt.” 

Following the altercation, the victim was transported to the hospital for a possible head injury and further treatment.
