Heading into Thursday’s game tied for third place with Cal State San Bernardino in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, the Gators fell to 15-10 overall and 13-8 in the CCAA by losing to Cal State Stanislaus 68-57.
The Gators’ high-scoring offense struggled, shooting 31 percent for the entire game including 21 percent from beyond the arc and 54 percent from the free-throw line.
This season they are averaging 73 points per game while allowing 69 points per game.
The Warriors on the other hand had more players in double figures, more assists and more blocked shots. Junior forward Reggie Jones was the top scorer in the game for Stanislaus with 17 points while senior guard and co-captain Marquel Hoskins led his team in scoring with 17 points as well.
Despite the loss, the Gators now enter their final game of the season tonight against Chico State with not much to play for, having already secured a CCAA playoff birth and a first-round home game for the first time in University history. That game will be March 1 at 7 p.m.
