The college was the first of its kind in the US and the strike that led to it remains the longest campus strike in U.S. history. Timeline information from the SF State Archive, Lib Guide: SFSC Student-led Strike Materials, Oba T’Shaka, Ph.D. at the department of Africana Studies, and previous reporting by the Phoenix, the Golden Gator, and the Golden Gate Xpress. More information on the events of the strike can be found at http://libguides.sfsu.edu/
