SF State looks for their first win in four games against a defensively stout Cal State LA squad this Friday, Sept. 28 at Cox Stadium.
The inconsistent Gators’ offense has a tough challenge ahead of them as they look to face a stifling Cal State LA defense that has been shutting down offensive efforts regularly.
The Gators offense has been in a rut lately, scoring only a single goal off of 38 shots in the last three games, according to the box scores from the Official Website of SF State Athletics.
Now, SF State offense looks to rejuvenate against a Cal State LA defense that has allowed a paltry single goal in their last five games combined, according to the box scores from the LA Golden Eagles Official Website.
The Herculean offensive task ahead does not mean the Gators do not have a chance. The Cal State LA offense has shown brilliant flashes at times, like their five goal drubbing of Humboldt State University. At other times, the Golden Eagles’ have also shown inconsistency, as in five of their eight games they have failed to score more than a single goal.
An offensive burst from the Gators, like the three goal efforts against Dominican University of California and Notre Dame de Namur University, will flip the script and put the pressure on the Golden Eagles’ offense.
After jumping out to a three-game winning streak to start the season and going undefeated for the first six games, the Gators are looking for their first win in 12 days in a contest where the score may be decided by which defense cracks first.
