De las 7 a.m. a las 5 p.m., Estudiantes por Gaza (S4G, por sus siglas en inglés) de la Universidad Estatal de San Francisco, junto con otras organizaciones estudiantiles del Área de la Bahía, saldrán de clases y realizarán un piquete el 8 de octubre.
Según panfletos repartidos a los estudiantes, los manifestantes estarán ubicados en cuatro lugares diferentes del campus:
- Parada del M (Avenidas 19 y Holloway): Círculo de tambores y piquete musical
- Edificio de Humanidades: Elaboración de carteles y tiza
- Burk Hall: Creación de fanzines y dibujando con tiza
- Parada del 57 (cerca del Centro de Bienestar de Mashouf): Círculo de tambores y piquete musical
11:52 a.m.
Una multitud de dos docenas de personas marchó por el campus, comenzando en el Edificio Administrativo y llegando a la Plaza Malcolm X para la manifestación que se realizará a las 12 p.m.
11:08 a.m.
Martel dice que la política del TPM aún no ha tenido efecto en nuestro campus, ya que los estudiantes han estado muy bien organizados, tan organizados que la administración no se atreve a interferir.
“Hemos estado violando el TPM (Hora, Lugar y Manera, por sus siglas en inglés) de manera intencional desde que se instituyó”, dijo Martel en una entrevista con Golden Gate Xpress. “Ahora, para ser justos, la facultad aún no se atiene a las mismas normas porque todavía no ha habido una reunión para discutirlo”, dijo Martel.
Martel afirma que los estudiantes y la facultad del campus están unidos y seguirán siéndolo.
10:29 a.m.
No se ha formado la muchedumbre en las Avenidas 19 y Holloway ni en otras universidades, pero las lecciones organizadas por el capítulo local de SFSU Facultad por Justicia en Palestina empezaron a las 9 a.m.
El profesor de Ciencias Políticas James Martel dio un discurso sobre la nueva política de Hora, Lugar y Manera a las 10 a.m. frente al mural de Edward Said.
Otras lecciones están planeadas a lo largo del día hasta las 4 p.m., con una manifestación que comenzará en la Plaza Malcolm X al mediodía.
9:30 a.m.
Los manifestantes estacionados afuera del Centro de Bienestar Mashouf se han unido con los manifestantes de las Avenidas 19 y Holloway debido al tráfico lento.
9:17 a.m.
Estudiantes, como Amil Al-Bakari, han comenzado a reunirse afuera del Centro de Bienestar Mashouf. Al-Bakari está participando en la huelga porque cree que es necesario.
“Aunque hemos desinvertido como escuela, todavía sigue siendo frustrante ver que otras escuelas siguen pasando por esta mierda”, dijo Al-Bakari. “Nos tardó mucho tiempo lograr que la escuela entendiera porque sentimos lo que sentimos acerca de la necesidad de desinvertir”.
8:03 a.m.
Comienza el tamborileo mientras la gente se reúne lentamente en la Avenida 19 y Holloway. Se puede escuchar a los participantes coreando varias frases como “¡CSU, no puedes esconderte, estás financiado el genocidio!”
7:21 a.m.
El martes por la mañana, los estudiantes comenzaron a prepararse afuera del edificio de las Humanidades y en otros lugares del campus para la huelga de hoy.
Según Brian Yan, un representante de medios para S4G, se están instalando lonas para los profesores que van a mostrar lecciones alrededor del campus, además de marquesinas y estaciones de registro para los eventos del día.
“Creo que hoy irá muy bien”, dijo Yan. “Hemos hecho mucho trabajo hablando en las aulas y conversando con nuestros compañeros sobre el genocidio en curso y cómo nuestros impuestos y dinero de matrícula se usan para financiar este genocidio en Gaza”.
Las personas a cargo del evento están divididas en cuatro categorías, identificadas con chalecos de colores: azul para representantes de medios, rojo para médicos, amarillo para seguridad y verde para organizadores.
