After sweeping Notre Dame de Namur in back-to-back non-conference games, the SF State softball team played its third straight doubleheader match against the fifth placed team in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
In a close and hard fought four-game series, the Gators finished with a 2-2 split at home with the Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes.
The Gators won game two and game three. They beat Cal State San Bernardino 2-1 and then again 3-1. However, the Coyotes won game one 8-7 in eight innings and closed the series with a 3-0 victory.
Senior catcher Kelsey Wood went 1 for 3 with a three-run home run in the first game while her teammates, sophomore outfielder Heather Jensen and sophomore shortstop Summer Powell, both hit lead-off homers in the third game.
The Gators are 15-26 overall and 8-20 in the CCAA. They will soon be on the road for their fourth doubleheader when they play the Cal State East Bay Pioneers in another non-conference series on April 10 at noon.
