Outkast and Massive Attack are headlining at the eighth annual Treasure Island Music Festival and if you are attending, there is no way you’ll be able to miss either performance, because this Festival prides itself on having no overlapping sets.

The Festival is an annual event spread over two days with nonstop music, food and art. The first day is solely focused on electronica and hip-hop music, while day two is focused on rock and indie music.

“The experience we want to provide for our audience is a much more intimate affair, so the acts that we program reflect that,” said Jordan Kurland, co-owner of Noise Pop Industries of San Francisco. “We enjoy providing the experience that people get out of it.”

Noise Pop Industries and Another Planet Entertainment are music production companies based out of San Francisco that founded the Festival in 2006 and produced the first just a year later.

Treasure Island Music Festival is one of the smaller festivals in San Francisco, with only two stages spread across the grounds. Performances are spaced out enough to make sure that performances do not overlap, making it easy for festival-goers to enjoy each performance, but the small setup does not take away from the explosive lineup.

If someone is not fully pleased with the performances, there are many other activities at the festival such as a ferris wheel and a silent disco, among other, unannounced activities. “We would like to keep some of it a surprise,” Kurland said.

Attendants should be sure to bring both sunglasses and rain boots, because the event will continue regardless of weather conditions. Early bird tickets have sold out but single and two-day regular tickets are on sale now for the Festival scheduled for Oct. 18 and 19.
