SF State students gathered in Malcolm X Plaza on Tuesday, March 15, for the annual Founders Day celebration. Taqueria Girasol gave away 1,899 tacos to symbolize the year of SF State’s founding, and student organizations tabled at the event to raise money for the HOPE Fund.
“The HOPE Fund Crisis Loan helps student who are in crisis who need money when they’re really on their last leg and having trouble paying for tuition and housing,” said Ryan Jones, the assistant director of Parents & Early Engagement program. “We really want to be able to raise funds for it so that (the student affairs office) can start giving out loans to students.”
The event, which was brought back by the Alumni Association after a 13 year lapse, focuses on bringing the university community together and honoring its history.
