Lecturer Lawrence Ferrara and Shiqi Li are performing together to bring festive and romantic music to SF State. The performance will be on Sept. 28 at 1 p.m at Knuth Hall in the Creative Arts building.
The two performers will combine their talents in a classic style to capture the inspiring sound of the guitar and cello played together. The music works are by de Falla, Piazzolla, Bogdanovic and Albeniz. This concert is free to faculty and students.
“A live performance will allow the listener to see the production of sound, and how musicians lift the music off the page. In that way there is a certain type of education of one’s emotions,” said Lawrence Ferrara. “The listener will understand something about the musicians, composer and bring the listener to another place. There is a chance that in a live performance it will affect the listener physiologically.”
Ferrara, professor at City College of San Francisco, San Francisco Conservatory of Music and San Francisco State University, has played with the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra and Bay Chamber Symphony. Li graduated with her master’s at from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2018.
