Women’s basketball add nine freshman ahead of upcoming season


The SF State women’s basketball team announced the addition of nine freshmen for the upcoming 2018-19 basketball season last week. 

Jasmin Asher, a 5-foot-8 forward from Brentwood, Calif., played her high school ball at Heritage High School and will major in political science.

Megan Cistulli joins the Lady Gators after playing four years of varsity hoops for Northview High School.  The 5-foot-10 guard hails from Duluth, Ga. and will major in political science. 

Madison Corder averaged a double-double her final two seasons for Fall River High School. The 6-foot-1 forward from Fall River Mills, Calif., who will major in business, averaged 15.8 points and 11 rebounds this past season. 

Taisia Fleming, a 5-foot-5 guard from Richmond, Calif. played her high school career for Salesian College Preparatory. The communication studies major led her team to a 27-6 record this past season.

Taimane Lesa-Hardee, also attended Salesian College Preparatory with Fleming. The team captain last season, averaged a career-best 6.3 points per game. The 5-foot-7 guard will major in biology.

Isabella Lamonea was a three-year varsity starter for South Hills High School. The 5-foot-7 guard from Glendora, Calif. averaged 28.4 points and 8.5 rebounds last season. She will major in biology. 

Mackenzie Oribello — a 5-foot-4 guard from Westview High School in San Diego — scored 1,145 career points, the fourth-highest mark in her school’s history. Oribello will major in kinesiology. 

Anaya Sperling was a four-year varsity starter for Buchanan High School in Clovis, Calif. The 6-foot forward was also a track and field stand out as a four-time varsity letterman and ranked within the top-20 in California for the triple jump. Sperling will major in biology. 

Emily Trask is a 5-foot-6 guard hailing from Livermore High School. She’s scored over 1,000 career points and was recognized as MVP in her sophomore year. Trask is majoring in pre-nursing. 

The Lady Gators will tip-off their season with an exhibition game on Friday, Nov. 2.
