Hundreds of men and women gathered around the Women’s Building in the Mission District to march in solidarity for the survivors of sexual assault for San Francisco Women Against Rape’s 10th annual Walk Against Rape April 18.
More than 30 teams registered for the walk that raised a total of $51,000, according to SFWAR’s executive director and SF State’s women and gender studies lecturer Janelle White. The money raised helps keep SFWAR’s doors open to the community and allows them to continue to provide services to the survivors of sexual assault and their families, according to White. The services include peer counseling, support groups, a 24-hour hotline and education prevention.
