At the end of February the Oakland teachers went on strike for higher salaries and smaller classroom sizes. The strike started on Feb 21 and the teachers and Oakland Unified School District came to an agreement on March 3. Throughout the week teachers, students and parents protested in front of schools across Oakland with many cold and rainy days. Although the strike came to an end, 42 percent of teachers voted against the conditions in the agreement.
